As a result of the merger at the National level of ABC, WIBC, YABA and USA
Bowling; the local associations have a decision to make. The PDBA, GPWBA and
GPYABA can:
(1) merge together to form one (1) USBC association that would provide service
to the men, women and youth in the Tri-Cities area or
(2) remain non-merged as separate associations that would serve the same
constituents they serve today.
The decision to merge or not merge does not rest solely with the respective Board of Directors in each association. The PDBA or the "BA's" decision would be decided by a vote of the Council of Delegates while the GPWBA or the "WBA's" decision would be decided by a membership vote. If you are a league delegate in the PDBA, you should stay informed by checking the information out on this website and on www.bowl.com, then you should canvas your league to see how they feel about merging or not merging and make sure you attend the Council of Delegates meeting and vote the way your league feels about the issue. The women's vote is a membership vote and each member of the GPWBA has a vote to determine the direction of bowling in the Tri-City area.
Regardless of whether we merge or not, we will still have to charter with the USBC and adhere to their performance standards and guidelines. That means adopting their by laws. So there will be changes to the associations as we know them today.
Again, this decision is made by the bowlers for bowling in our area, so be informed and cast your vote.
